Our friends at Bob Stahl Racing are showing Mothers Polish some love on the rear wing of their Bonneville Salt Flats special. At one time this ’65 Beetle was Bob’s daughter’s daily driver. Today, the Type 4 mill is methanol fueled with a stratospheric 14.6:1 compression ratio and punched out to 2,914cc (with a 105mm bore and 84mm stroke), in order to stay under the 3-liter class max. Bob’s gone as fast at 157mph on the salt and we’d be willing to bet this Bug has more in it. Good luck this year, Bob!
